Our schoolhouse remains much as it was in 1941 when renovated by Amos and Dorothy Peaslee.
Our current Little Red Schoolhouse Committee is working with historic preservation architect, Michael Westfield, to design a renovation plan that will maintain the character and integrity of the original schoolhouse while offering upgrades to the bathrooms, electrical system, heating and air conditioning, and kitchen.
The cost of the building plan shown here was estimated at $300,000. We were required by the county to make improvements to the site, including handicapped parking and lighting, which would have cost an additional $300,000. We are no longer using this plan.
Instead we plan to improve the existing facilities without adding extra space.
